Mt. Sherman 14,161’—August 23rd, 2026

Tyler Mckay was in Colorado to pace another former Drake alum for the Leadville 100 trail run. The person he was meant to pace for the finish ended up being pulled for medical reasons, so he invited me to join him up Mt. Sherman at 9pm the night before. Of course I said yeah, drove up and got a few hours of sleep in the trailhead parking lot before a 6am start. We made it up and down in a little over two hours, and despite a harsh wind out of the west, would consider it perfect mountain climbing weather. Grateful to have gotten to the top of another rock in Colorado.
